welcome to my little corner of the cosmos.
Growing up, the thought of becoming an entrepreneur never even crossed my mind. School was a struggle, and I often felt like I wasn’t that smart. After bouncing through various jobs post-graduation, trying to figure out where I fit, who I was, and what I was meant to do with my life, I eventually found my groove in fashion sales — a place where I thrived.
In my mid-twenties, after a relatively brief stint working for a wholesale fashion agency, I took a leap and started Alyssa Agency, my own company representing top fashion brands across Ontario and the Maritimes.
Simultaneously, while still running the agency, I began a ‘side hustle’ — an infant and kids apparel brand named mini mioche. I had just had my first child and couldn’t find the simple, soft, gender-neutral, ethically and sustainably-made clothes I wanted to dress her in. So I took on the challenge of creating it myself.
Taking a leap into the unknown is scary, but I truly believe that’s where the real magic happens.
Over the following 15 years, I poured my heart and soul into building mini mioche from an idea to a multi-million dollar brand, with no previous experience in design and manufacturing, no partners, and no outside capital. It was an amazing and rewarding experience, and also an incredibly challenging one. There’s nothing like entrepreneurship to put you on a rocket ship to personal growth.
In August 2023, I made the decision to sell and exit mini mioche. Letting go of something you’ve dedicated so much of your life to is never easy, but my inner voice was telling me it was time for a new chapter.
Until recently, I lived in a perpetual state of hustle. I wore my ability to get things done and push through challenges like a badge of honour. This next chapter is about embracing a new way of being — it’s about living intentionally with more presence, ease, flow and fun. It’s about cultivating self-trust and self-love, recognizing that my value doesn’t come from what I do or how much I achieve, but who I am.
This next chapter is about aligning my time, energy and unique gifts with what matters most to me:
